Reformation Resources
Although the Reformation was more of an era than an event, October 31st, 1517 is widely considered the beginning of the Reformation Era. This year marks the 500 year anniversary of the Reformation. Providence Road is a church that believes the truths the Reformers were fighting for 500 years ago are just as important now as they were then.
One of the easiest ways to remember what the Reformation was about is to know the five solas. The word “sola” in Latin is translated as “alone” in English.
Sola Scriptura (“Scripture alone”): The Bible alone is our highest authority.
Sola Fide (“faith alone”): We are saved through faith alone in Jesus Christ.
Sola Gratia (“grace alone”): We are saved by the grace of God alone.
Solus Christus (“Christ alone”): Jesus Christ alone is our Lord, Savior, and King.
Soli Deo Gloria (“to the glory of God alone”): We live for the glory of God alone.
If one of the solas goes, we lose the gospel and the biblical idea of salvation crumbles.
