Women's Equip Conference

A few weeks ago, we hosted our first Providence Road Women’s Equip Conference! So many women came together to make this event really special and we were blown away by the amazing feedback we received afterwards. We wanted to share some of what we talked about with you all in case you weren’t able to come and provide some additional resources as well.

In planning the content for this event, it was our desire to help equip women to grow in a balanced way. We wanted women to develop their minds to understand God’s truth more, to be challenged to align their hearts more to God’s heart, and to push themselves to act and live out Christ’s model of serving others. So while our three topics weren’t necessarily related to each other, our desire was that women would grow equally in the areas of head, heart, and hands. Here is a brief overview of the content that was covered at the conference:

In our first session, Kathleen Kammerer shared with us how to really get to the root of our sin and how to repent from that root rather than to simply try and change our actions. She taught us that behind every sin is something untrue that we are believing about who God is and what He has done. If we want to get to the root of our sin, we have to learn how to identify the wrong beliefs below the sin.

In our second session, Nicole Hager taught us some practical tools to help us as we read our Bibles. She explained the importance of spending the majority of our time working on our comprehension and interpretation of the text before moving on to application. We can’t be sure that we are applying scripture correctly if we don’t first spend time making sure we rightly understand what the text says and what it means.

And finally, in our third session, Mary Rachel Fenrick spoke on what a life of serving others looks like. She challenged us to take an honest look at our lives and determine if we are an “over-server”, saying yes too often and neglecting those in our inner circle who we know we are called to serve, or if we are an “under-server”, not wanting to sacrifice our own comfort to serve others.

If you read all of that and are bummed you missed out on all the great content, make sure to check out the links below. We were able to record and post two of the sessions. We’re also providing you with plenty of other resources to help you become better students of the Bible. Take a look below for the goods. Feel free to contact Nicole with any questions or if you want any additional resources related to this event.
