Ideas for Celebrating Resurrection Sunday
Although Resurrection Sunday will look differently than it has before, the message of our celebration never changes. We serve a Risen Savior and celebrating the work done on the cross is something to be celebrated regardless of our current circumstances. When considering how I could make this day feel, as special as it is, I came across some fun ideas I wanted to pass along.
Celebrate with your Prov Road family by engaging in family worship at home via the Family Worship Guide Sunday morning.
Kevin DeYoung’s The Biggest Story Animated Short Film is FREE to stream through April 12, 2020. Watching this as a family one night this week could be a great way to prepare your hearts for Sunday and create good conversation about how truly important Jesus’ work is to us.
Listen to this playlist created by covenant member Melinda Dennis. We have been listening to it while we play outside in the afternoons. It could also be a fun addition to breakfast or even bath time. Any time is the perfect time to hide lyrics of truth in your children’s hearts.
Paint or chalk something meaningful to help lift you and your neighbor’s spirits. We painted a rainbow on our front window last week for the Resurrection Eggs scavenger hunt but plan to switch it out for a mosaic cross this week. I’ve also seen some fun cross images that families chalked on their driveways.
Make a special breakfast! Resurrection Rolls are a fun way to illustrate the empty tomb! Or if pancakes are more your style, try splitting the batter into different bowls and using different color food coloring to create a rainbow of pancakes. What a fun way to start the day!
Have an Easter egg hunt! Hide eggs around the house or outside but include loved ones through FaceTime or Zoom. We plan to let both sets of Grandparents hang with us on FaceTime while our kids hunt for eggs.
If you want to limit conflict during the hunt, try this neat idea and have kids only hunt for their assigned color of egg.
Dye eggs! This is always a crowd pleaser at our house. Grab a kit on your next grocery order.
Read The Servant King in the Jesus Storybook Bible or watch it here. Then take turns washing each other’s feet and discuss how Jesus makes us clean!

End your day making great use of those plastic eggs!
